01 / ABOUT THE PLACE

About this place

Tucked into a quiet pocket of Higashi-Mukojima, LE PETIT PARISIEN feels less like a conventional bookstore or cafe and more like a scholar's open study. Founded by an ex-libris researcher, the space gathers a private collection of books and archival materials into an environment reminiscent of an intimate reference library, where guests can turn pages in peace. Shelves hold rare antique volumes dating back as far as the 18th century, and hearing directly from the owner about vintage hand-binding and historical printing methods is one of the distinct pleasures of a visit.

Drinks accompany the reading, and lingering over freshly poured coffee while browsing antiquarian titles makes for a solitary respite. The space also operates as a quiet bar, welcoming visitors to unwind over a cold beer or sample from a lineup of absinthes well into the evening. Rotating displays of paintings and prints regularly grace the room, cultivating an atmosphere steeped in literature and visual art.

Located within easy walking distance of Hikifune Station, the salon suits an unhurried daytime reading session as well as late-night visits on select evenings. Surrounded by stimulating books and artwork, it offers an uncommon setting to sip quietly and slow down.
